Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) Flooring

The look of real wood or stone with the durability and easy care of vinyl, fitted to a precise, flawless finish.

Luxury vinyl tile has transformed the way people think about flooring. It captures the warmth of timber and the character of natural stone, yet it is warm underfoot, quiet, water-resistant and remarkably hard-wearing. LVT is only ever as good as the person fitting it, though, and that is where more than two decades of experience make all the difference.

Why choose LVT?

Modern LVT is a genuinely premium product. High-definition print layers and embossed-in-register surface textures make plank and tile designs almost indistinguishable from the real thing, while a tough, clear wear layer protects against scuffs, stains and everyday wear. Unlike real wood it will not swell or cup when it gets wet, and unlike stone or ceramic it is warm and comfortable to stand on.

That combination of looks and practicality makes LVT one of the most versatile floors available. It is equally at home in a busy family kitchen, a hallway that takes muddy boots every day, a ground-floor bathroom or a high-footfall shop or office.

Glue-down or click: choosing the right system

We install both glue-down (dry-back) and click (rigid core) LVT, and we will always give you honest advice on which suits your project best. Glue-down LVT is bonded directly to a smoothed subfloor. It is extremely stable, quiet underfoot, ideal over underfloor heating and allows for intricate designs such as herringbone, chevron, borders and inset feature strips.

Click LVT locks together and floats over a suitable underlay. It can be a sensible choice where the subfloor is sound but not suitable for adhesive, or where speed of installation is a priority. Each system has its place, and choosing correctly at the outset is key to a floor that performs for years.

It all starts with the subfloor

Because LVT is a relatively thin, flexible product, any imperfection beneath it will eventually show through. Nail heads, board joints, ridges and dips can all telegraph through to the surface. That is why every glue-down LVT installation we carry out begins with a thorough assessment of the subfloor, followed by the correct preparation, whether that is a plywood overlay on timber floors, moisture testing and a damp-proof membrane on concrete, or a smoothing compound to create a perfectly flat, smooth base.

It is not the most glamorous part of the job, but it is the part that separates a floor that looks good on day one from a floor that still looks immaculate ten years later.

Finishing details that make the difference

Great LVT installations are defined by the details: tight, consistent joints; planks laid out so that short offcuts never end up at doorways; thresholds that sit neatly against adjoining floors; and clean, scribed edges around skirting, door frames and pipes. We can also add design strips, borders and contrasting inlays to give your floor a truly bespoke look.

Questions

LVT Flooring: FAQs

Can LVT be fitted in a bathroom?

Yes. LVT is water-resistant and a popular choice for bathrooms and en-suites. For glue-down installations we use the appropriate adhesive and ensure the subfloor is properly prepared, and we seal perimeters where needed.

Is LVT suitable for underfloor heating?

Most LVT is compatible with both water-based and electric underfloor heating, provided the manufacturer's temperature limits are followed. Glue-down LVT in particular transfers heat very efficiently. We will check the specification of your chosen product before installation.

How long does LVT last?

A quality LVT, correctly installed over a well-prepared subfloor, can last 15โ€“25 years or more in a domestic setting depending on the wear layer. Commercial-grade products are designed for even heavier traffic.
